Is my infant eating too much fruit

Hi

My 15 month old loves her food, especially fruit. She always asks for more (meaning fruit) she will eat 2 bananas, a bowl of strawberries, an orange just in the morning and always asks for more. Is positive and there's no such thing as too much fruit and veg or having too much fruit and veg bad...It's like she can't get enough fruit and veg at the minute. Any advice would be great

I think 2 bananas is quite a lot in one go but I don't know what actual harm it would do.

The sugar aspect is probably the only concerning aspect to me because of teeth, and sometimes too much fruit can cause upset stomach/dodgy nappies.

I wouldn't be overly worried though it's fruit not sweets!

I would just try and encourage more veg, things like carrots sticks that won't be as harsh on teeth.

Fruit is very different from other sorts of sugars wrt sugar iirc. ( Not smoothies or juice though)

My dh2 was like this (still is at 2.5 years). I too worried about sugar but re bananas, his fave, my pharmacist friend said just to have 1 as they are high in magnesium and he shouldnt have too much.

Snap, my 19 month old is just the same, I am trying to give him alternative snacks (rice cakes, nuts, crisps Blush) to try and make sure he doesn't crave the sugar in the fruit...also he gets a bit of nappy rash if he has too much. He has already had 2 bananas though today Wink

Thanks all, I will try and reduce just a bit and add more alternatives such as rice cakes, nuts etc.. but don't want to discourage her love of fresh fruit and veg.

Just watch the sugar content and stay on top of brushing.

My DSD has had two fillings already. The dentist has repeatedly told us not to give her fizzy drinks, chocolate etc but it's actually the bloody fruit. She eats punnets of grapes, blueberries and bananas like they're going out of fashion.

Fruit is ok as it contains fibre,it's the juices which should be avoided.

I remember reading a few years back that adults shouldn't eat more than two bananas a day due to the potassium levels in them. Not sure if there's truth in it but may be worth checking.
