put the baby to the breast as often as possible. lots of skin to skin contact. lot sof cuddles.

is the baby getting colostrum? what exactly has happened?

How onld is the baby and what were the circumstances. It is possible her milk has come in but she has just not got engorged.

Like Dizzy sasy the best way to stimulate milk is to have the baby at the breast as much as possible even if they are not feeding suckling as if a dummy and lots of skin to skin, the mum should try to put as much on hold as possible and just lie down with the baby and spend as much time doing that as possible just now.

Hi

My milk didn't come in very well at all and my DS lost tons of weight. I did tons of skin to skin and took nursing tea (think it is fenugeek and fennel - is an accqired taste!) and brewers yeast. I'm not 100% convinced that these things work but they are worth a try

Most of all I learned that it was important to RELAX and think about how much you want to BF your baby and the milk will come.

I got so worked up about him losing wieght and I think that had a negative effect on my milk production (DS had a tongue tie so was not latching on properly, once he had it snipped he could latch on but I didn;t have much milk by that point)

Why does she think her milk hasn't come in?

Not meaning to sound like I doubt her by the way - obviously she knows her own body but the early days of bf can be confusing, eg:

baby wanting to feed all the time - normal, doesn't mean there's no milk.

Not being able to express - also normal, doesn't mean there's no milk.
