Hi all

My dd is 2 1/2 yo she has her normal meals during the day. She has dinner 5 ish bath then a 7/8 oz bottle of oatmilk part warm water at night. I was wondering when everyone else lo stopped having a bottle at night ? And how is best to cut it out as I don't feel she sometimes eats enough dinner cause of this bottle.

Thanks for your help xx

Mine were off bottles at 15 months and 11 months and had drinks in a cup from then. When does she drink it and how does it affect dinner?

She drinks it after dinner. But I think she saves room for it. I think it's more a comforter and it relaxes her

We stopped a bottle at around 15 months with DC1 and switched to a sippy cup. Gradually reduced the amount of milk over time, and then started giving a tiny bit to her downstairs during story time before going up to bed. Plan to do the same with DC2 (18 months) any time now - only reason we haven't already is that we were going on holiday and wanted a familiar routine!

2 1/2 is quite old for a bottle if your DD doesn't have any oromotor difficulties. Having a night time drink is fine but I'd recommend changing the drinking vessel. Does she use an open cup for other drinks?

Stopped night time bottle at 14 months (all other bottles stopped at a year). Was worried about his teeth as we do them in the bath and he was having milk after. He has tea at 3.30 at nursery, 2 weetabix at about 5.15, then a sippy cup of milk (approx 5oz) that he drinks over the next 45 minutes before his bath. He didn't seem to care at all when we stopped the bottle but I guess at 2.5 you might have more of a battle!

You can get bottles with sippy cup teats that might be a good switch. My first dd hated milk so she self weaned quite quickly. A milky drink before bed is fine as long as you brush her teeth after. Id try and substitute the bottle for a soft spout dippy cup. Hopefully you can make the change without upsetting the sleep inducing effect!

Thank you all for your help I have now started a new bed time routine of tv off story and a cup of milk then brush teeth and bed. Although we sometimes have a few tears she has taken to it quite well. Now I'm attempting to try and get her to self sooth. Any tips ? :)
