If ovulation has restarted whilst breastfeeding, is it possible that it might stop again if the number of feeds increases dramatically?

My ds is 16.5 months and we are ttc again. I stopped the minipill three months ago and ovulation appeared just fine. Ds had been feeding maybe three or four times a day with none at night. Then he went through a clingy phase which I responded to by feeding him when he was upset, then he had his MMR and was a disaster for a few days which I responded to by feeding him more, then at the weekend there he was quite ill with croup and was off his food, so I responded by feeding him more - and this time it was all day every day (or so it seemed!!). Now I don't seem to have had any signs of ovulation. How likely is it that it's the increased breastfeeding which has stopped it and is this likely to have a knock on effect on my period?

TIA

i would imagine that if it does slow ovulation down a bit, it would only be v short term.

i concieved my second while fully bf my first every 3-4 hours. i was only 3-4months post partum!

i would just carry on and see where it goes. are you desperate to concieve very quickly?

Thanks for responding dither. I'm not desperate to conceive but having thought I was back on track with my ovulation, it's a bit frustrating for this to happen now.

I don't know really mawbroon, but it seems likely. If demand goes up, then hormonal release goes up, esp if you are feeding more at night

it will soon settle down though I expect
sympathies about the deman though. dd2 is the same at the mo and tbh I am finding it a bit draining.

Thanks ladies. Ah well, DH will think his luck is in as I have to assume that I might be ovulating any day now!
