Have a look here for info on expressing at work and your rights from the Breastfeeding Network.

I'm sure other people with direct experience will be along, but iirc you should be provided with a room to express to give you privacy, somewhere you can store your milk and be given adequate time.

tracey I believe in the UK, there are guidlines which say that you should be provided with a room and a fridge> Don't think it's the law though.

having looked at other treads some mums have said that their babies can go without milk during the day, and just have water, but i am afraid that my milk supply will go down, or my boobs may explode at work ! if i don't express

tracey, your boobs will adjust even if you don't express during the day. It is nice to be able to send in EBM for baby to drink during the day, though.
In my job, we didn'y have a designated room and there's no fridge but I used my consulting room ( I'm an optometrist) and usually put the milk in an insulated bag. One day a week I worked 12 hours so on that day I brought in a little mini fridge from Argos which also worked from my car cigarette lighter.

Tracy, I have 3 ds's. The first two switched between breast and bottle with absolutely no issues. Ds3 would not entertain the idea of a bottle at all! In the end I found Playtex disposable bottles with the NaturalLatch teat to be the only one that he would take and that was after being left with my mum for a day!

traceyn, my boobs were quite full at first and after I stopped expressing properly (ie saving the milk), I just hand-expressed at lunch time enough to ease the discomfort - 'pump and dump' I have heard it called on here .

my boobs adjusted really quickly - on a work day I can go from 6.30am feed to 5pm feed without any fullness, and yet the next day when I am at home, I have milk supply enough for my daughter to feed every couple of hours if she wants to.

Mind all this happened after she was 1 year old, and I think breasts adjust quite a bit after that length of time.

How old is your baby?
