Lumpy Curdled Sicks (sorry!)

Hello,
My 3 month old baby boy has been bringing up quite a bit of his bottled recently. Some of the sicks are really lumpy and curdled. He isn't ill in himself, no temperature etc. and isn't losing weight. I just wondered if this is normal as the curdled sicks are pretty nasty.

Many thanks.

Mmm nice!

Been there. In our case it was reflux and the doc gave us some advice. Can just be the brand of milk though if you are of formula (we bf so she only had draught). You could try switching brands.

Or you could be feeding him a bit too much and so it's coming back up because his tummy is too full?

If he's fine and not bothered then I'd just grab a load of muslins and not worry too much. You'd soon know if it was a problem because he wouldn't gain any weight.

Many thanks HTH. I feel reassured. I'll have a chat with the HV on Friday though just to be on the safe side.

Hiya - HTH means happy to help by the way (BTW).

Good plan. Lumpy and curdled is better than projectile believe me.

He'll be fine though. They grow out of the vomity stage eventually. Our DD just did four weeks of hurling then stopped almost overnight (and I was SO relieved).

My DS and now my DD both did/do this. I think it has to do with how long after the feed they are sick and how digested it is. Thats what my HV told me last time anyway (though you know what HV advice is like!!)

ah be careful with the reflux and not gaining weight idea. dd had reflux but because she was gaining weight normally and "looked healthy enough" { - wtf?} i had trouble getting docs to treat her and ended up going to see three different docs.

when i read your first post, big alarm bells started ringing when you said lumpy sick - does it look like cottage cheese? if so, it sounds very much like reflux. this basically happens because the valve at the top of the stomach isn't yet strong enough to keep in all the contents of a feed. it does need treatmetn, tho you may need referral to a good paediatrician to get it but it does get better .
