Hi
I'm not sure whether to be concerned or not. I stooped b-feeding my son about a week ago. have just been lying in the bath bemoaning how much my boobs have shrunk...... and there is a definite lump in one of them - not visible but certainly palpable. Is it likely to be blocked duct after this length of time? I'm trying to persuade myself that it is but also awful thoughts are beginning to run theough my head and Dh is away....

Its possible as a week is a short length of time to have stopped. Is it red at all or tender to touch? Did you suddenly stop breastfeeding or slowly reduce feeds?

Its always worth getting any lump checked out though.

I reduced slowly over the course of about a month! and no it's not red or tender - infact if i hadn't have ben prodding about probaly wouldn't have noticed it......

It could maybe be hormonal (possibly indicating a return of your periods soon) but to keep your mind at rest go and see the Dr in the morning.

After I stopped breasfeeding my second child I also developed a lump. I went to my GP who was unsure that it was related to stopping breastfeeding. I was referred really quickly to a consultant but by the time I saw him the lump had gone anyway. He said it probably was to do with the breastfeeding. (I hope you got on ok with your GP today.

good luck littleweed. hope it goes well.

I had the same kind of experience just after stopping feeding. turned out to be an abscess but actually not nearly as bad as it sounds. Took a while to diagnose it because it was just like yours - painless (apparently unusual for an abscess). Have now had it drained a couple of times and a biopsy taken and its almost gone.
