High chair hunt

I am researching for a high chair for DS who is starting solids next month. There are some great looking ones there but some are very expensive! We are also quite limited in space (small london flat) so was thinking perhaps getting a travel one that can be stored out of the way when not in use.

Has anybody tried the Combelle travel one?

And does anybody know if it is stocked anywhere where I can physically go and check it out? Smallable don't have a store in the UK I don't think....

Finally, would you get a travel one for permanent use? (Perhaps they are not as stable as the regular ones??)

Any thoughts welcome! Thank you Smile

We had a lovely wooden east coast the first time around but I found it such a pain to clean (probably because dh would "clean" it sometimes and I'd find crusted bits on there where he hadn't cleaned it properly, but also because of all the little nooks that you have to get into).

We bought the Ikea one this time. I LOVE it! It is full of curves and no cracks to clean. My life is so much easier and she sits in it so well. So many cafés have them that you can probably try one out somewhere. They just seem to make babies sit very comfortably and we'll supported. We have a teeny tiny house and haven't found the legs a problem at all. I just put the highchair at the end of the dining room no one goes and she sits at the end of the table. It's honestly fantastic and at that price you can buy it and try it out and if you don't like it sell it onto someone else who doesn't want to trek to Ikea. I guarantee someone else will want it.

@MaverickSnoopy that is exactly what I will do!

Order online and I am sure it will do the trick. Sounds like it has lots of pros:
Sitting up straight
No footrest but the option to tweak and add one
Light and easy to clean
Amazing price
Goes in washing machine
Legs come off easily

The only con seems to be the legs/space thing, and it would be a big con for us, but since the legs come off fairly easily, it would be just a matter of taking them off and storing it away each time. I am sure I will get used to it and it won't seem a bother after a while. I'd have to pack a travel one away too anyway so it's not like I can escape that completely.

I do think there are prettier chairs around but it is not bad looking at all and I admit I do prefer it to most booster seats from a purely aesthetic point of view (we also only have a 4-seat small dining table so DS taking up one seat would make it tricky to have ppl over, like DGP etc)

Ladies, I think we have a winner! can't thank you enough for your feedback and help Biscuit

The thing is, all high chairs have wide legs, they need them to keep them stable.
