"Slanted" feeding bottles - where can I get them?

I am reluctantly considering replacing the two night breast feeds I give my 6 week old dd (have been bottle feeding durng the day and BF at night) with formula feeds as I am worried my milk supply is diminishing and would like to be able to feed her in the same position as I BF ie lying on her side next to me.

I have seen some "slanted" feeding bottles which allow for this but can't seem to find them anywhere - does anyone know where I can get them?

Thanks!

how do you know your supply is diminishing? the bet way to increase supply is feed lots and lots

kellymom site great advice here...

if you are reluctant to supplement, try to persevere !

Hi there,
Have to agree with lulumama on that score but if you still want to swap over Babies R us do the slanted ones .You can check them out online. They do singles and multi packs of about 4 different makes.

But bf in the day ( or expressing) will increase your supply back up.your body thinks it only needs to produce a little as you are only feeding at night.

In two minds... actually not sure it is diminishing but I have a feeling she would go longer through the night if I formula fed rather than breast fed... just a thought really and do not really want to do it.

Gradually changed from BF to combined formula and BF 3-4 weeks ago as a result of extremely sore cracked and bleeding nipples comnibed with terrible baby blues! Only doing 2 feeds a day has really helped.

My HV seems to think I may develop supply problems but tbh have been only doing 2 breast feeds for a few weeks now and it is working absolutely fine - dd is going 3-4 hours after breast feed. She has always been an efficient feeder - only feeds for 10 mins on one side and that seems to knock her out for 3-4 hours.

Think I have just convinced myself not to switch to formula for the night feeds yet!

Will I actually have any milk supply if I try to BF during the day?!

I'm scared of increasing BF again as don't want sore nipples again (although I think that was initially a result of severe engorgement lasting 7 days causing latching problems).

it sounds more like you could do with some help to breast feed...help with the latch so you donlt get sore

and it is a myth formula makes babies sleep through

they sleep because they are ready too and 6 weeks old is very young to expect no night feeds

i believe, breast milk is slightly more calorific than formula

the more you feed, the more milk you will get, and if you want to re-establish total breast feeding there is lots of support through

La Leche League

Assocation of breastfeeding mothers (ABM)

NCT

and on here !

OK - I'm convinced! If I wanted to re-introduce a feed which I have til now been doing as a formula feed, should I offer breast first then offer bottle afterwards as a top-up until milk supply for that feed is established?

not terribly au fait with bf , but i would just put LO to the breast a lot ! hope someone who is a bit more knowledgeable comes along soon with some better advice

but the kellymom site is great ! your local NCT will have a breastfeeding counsellor and details will be easy to find if you google your local NCT x
