Breast substitute - or should that be substitute breast?

Ds2 loves to pinch and knead my boobs while feeding. His nails are sharp, no matter how I file or trim them, and it hurts - he even draws blood from time to time. Nothing I give him to hold seems to satisfy him, as he pushes it aside after one or two sucks and gets his paws back on the boob.

Any ideas what substitute might satsify his need to knead?

chicken fillet-type breast enhancer stuck to your own?

colditz · 03/03/2007 22:47

Do you think he is doing it to up the flow? Cos as I recall a lot of baby mammals do this.

colditz · 03/03/2007 22:48

put mittens on him

My dd1 used to roll the skin on my neck between her fingers. She still reaches out to the nearest neck and does it when she's tired and she's 3.4 now. She even does it to the baby - it really annoys me, but i feel mean when i tell her off as its a comfort banket thing really - ggrrr.

I did wonder about one of those breast enhancers, but I don't happen to have one about the house and they're quite expensive to buy, I think.

The breastfeeding necklace looks like a good idea. Though she does say not to fall asleep or feed in bed with it on, both of which I do.

Now why didn't I think of mittens!

I wouldn't be surprised, Colditz - I certainly feel like he thinks I'm Mother Cat sometimes. I don't think I've got an abundant supply. He tends to do it rythmically (and just about bearably) when he's feeding steadily, but it is more of a violent, scratching flail if he's reached the end of the flow and still wants more - at least, that's how I interpret it.

My dd2 flails and scratches at the end of feeds because she needs burping or wants to move onto the other breast. Don't underestimate your milk supply Pretty, it often feels like there's not much tho' doesnt it?
