Oversupply after breastfeeding sick baby

Help! DS is 7 months and has just come through a 48hr vomiting bug. He's stopped vomiting now and is getting back to normal. But he breastfed a lot over the last two days to make up for the fluids he was losing through vomiting and now my milk supply is going crazy- I've just fed him until he was full, expressed 50mls from each side and I'm still really uncomfortable.

How do I get my supply to calm down to match up with his normal appetite? I'm worried I'm going to end up with mastitis Confused

Don't know on that one sorry. Have you tried one of the Bfing Helplines?

Not yet- I will do, thanks!

Have you tried block feeding.

Also I know it's annoying but only express enough to slightly ease the pressure

I've had oversupply issues from day dot... my midwife recommended refrigerated cabbage leaves, placed on the breast... instant relief, reduced engorgement. Only 10 mins each side though, as it can reduce ur supply too much x

Block feed - feed just on one side for a large chunk of the day and then only switch when the other boob gets really uncomfortable. Be careful you don't reduce your supply too much tho!

Ps don't express - it'll only up your supply more!
