In desperate need of some advice; I've had to stop EBFing as 2 month old has been diagnosed with a lactose intolerance, all the things that were supposed to help haven't so I have moved onto lactose free formula prescribed by the doctor.

I'm sad about having to stop as it was initially going great, this is my first baby so I'm panicking about every decision I make and now I have no idea what to do! Basically I am so confused about bottle feeding, before my baby would just feed whenever she wanted for however long she wanted but now I'm concerned she might overfeed or might feed her too little?!

How much formula are you supposed to give a 2 month old and how often should they feed and how many times a day should they feed and how long is too long to sleep for at night?!

I've tried googling all this and got sub par answers, I need real help MNers sorry about the long post but I'm a very anxious first time mamma!!

Hi Duchess. I found my health visitor helpful when I switched. There is a calculation for how much formula per 24 hours based on weight. You can find it fairly easily online. I found that DD didn't go through that unless she was starting a growth spurt. Hope that helps.

I just treat it like others do breastfeeding - give the baby as much as they want. I don't pay much attention any more to how much DS eats day to day as it varies, especially when he's going through a growth spurt. He's gaining plenty of weight anyway!

Perfect Prep is a godsend, I don't know how people manage without it

For heavens sake she asking for help about bottle feeding.
Hi OP there are lots of different ways to make a bottle. Do you have to make your formula fresh? At two months old I think it's five ounces - depends on how your feeding. Will you feed on cues/demand or on a timetable (my pals do this). What kind of steriliser do you have? I have a milton cold water and set an alarm for changing same time every day. You get insulated bags for keeping bottles warm - cheap on ebay too. WHO guidelines say can keep a bottle for two hours. Not sure about bf nappies but yes ff nappies are horrible haha.
