I am feeling sorry for myself today - my dd is 10 months and has just had a crop of new teeth and so has been chewing on my nipps like crazy I have had mastitis twice since crimbo don't want it again and I am fecking fed up of my ropey saggy old bras... (to clarify I have had two babies in last three years bf'd ds till 21m when dd was 6wks so that is whay I have been bf for so long)...

Anyhoo yesterday I cracked and bought some lovely sexy underwired bras and I really want to wear them also after so many years being constantly pg/bf/pg&bfing I want to get pissed, I want to stay out all night and party I want my boobs back... blimey i didn't expect to write all this I should het back in my box

i hated feeding bras & just wore normal underwired ones after a while definately by 10 months anyhow. Mind you everyone @ br.feeding group said i shouldn't

worleythewisp · 27/02/2007 21:33

i have an underwired breastfeeding bra, its so much nicer than the ones i have without underwires, i wear it at work other wise i feel like i have no shape left what so ever!

funnily enought i was looking at some of my old bras yesterday and wondering if i could squeeze in to them yet.... not yet though... been feeding only 8 months, aiming for a year minimum.

procrastimater · 27/02/2007 21:33

thanks califrau i feel better already

maximumm... thank you i would feel bad wearing them b4 12m mark it is just that they are soo pretty and i want to

Oh great going you, have a virtual bouquet of breastpads and Lansinoh cream

I have just stopped breastfeeding after...erm....46 months nonstop and I can honestly say I envy you carrying on

I started to wear underwire again after about a year - you will know when your breasts have stopped changing shape all the time. If you are prone to mastitis then I would say now is not the right time, but it won't be too long.

It might be worth trying some different breastfeeding bras? I loved the Maternelle one by Elle MacPherson - comfy and pretty - but found that different bras gave me a different shape.

Anyway congrats again

procrastimator i know how you feel. dd has a cold and is grumpy and conequently i am sore and fed up. I have now been pg or bf for summat like 4 years and 3 months (2 kids).

why not wear an underwired bra? i mean, beyond the early, cabbage scented days? is it not mumsy enough?

oh fooey you have stopped then?

moondog · 27/02/2007 21:48

Oh,throw 'em out.
I wore regular underwired bras once had established the babies didn't need feeding every two minutes.

I also er.....got reasonably pissed both before during and after my extended period of breastfeeding.

Fooey · 27/02/2007 21:55

Fonk yes he decided to stop altogether

keep meaning to start a thread about it but still a bit wobbly

Moondog the OP keeps getting mastitis I think she should hold off th underwire for a bit longer

Cali I admit I may not be norkularly gifted but 46 months shows something of a talent surely?

procrastimater · 27/02/2007 21:56

Thanks Fooey - I do intend to continue but have occasional arrrggghh moments when I want to pack it in but know i would regret stopping too soon as I was proud of continuing to feed ds during pg despite it being so painful i was crying some nights [yeah i know brave little soldier emoticon] - soo it is really good to hear supportive comments as generally I just get on with it and don't discuss breastfeeding much with anyone except my husband - and bless him he is very supportive but can't really understand all my feelings about this.

My mum expects me to stop when dd is one and thinks I am mad to cont. after mastitis - but seeing how well and healthy dd is - she is off the scale in weight and height and has never been ill! how can I stop ... but I have to remind myself of these things when I am wrestling with her in the early hours and she is teething and grumpy and bitey!!!

ah missed mastitis

but why would underwiring cause mastitis?

am i being thick?

Fonk · 27/02/2007 21:59

sorry you are wobbly fooey

sending virtual cakes and accidental more baby vibes

TooTicky · 27/02/2007 22:03

Hey well done procrastinater
(Is it only me who finds underwiring horribly uncomfortable and unpleasant then?)

procrastimater · 27/02/2007 22:04

Fooey size doesn't count 46 months is exceedingly norkingly G&T and I salute you I still feel sad I am not feeding ds despite the fact he can't remember how too anymore - he does pretend to feed his sister though by lying next to her and pulling his tshirt up - which makes me want to cry...

btw I do have an Elle Mcp bra but I find the opening a bit restrictive for my ample bosom - best comfort is provided by the bravado bras I do have a fetching leopard print one (not as hideous as it sounds!!!) I am just bored with them as I used to have some lovely uw'd bras - have gone up a cup size though so having to re-stock - wary of wearing them cos of effect on milk supply.

procrastimater · 27/02/2007 22:08

underwiring can contribute to mastitis by exacerbating the blocked ducts that cause it I also stopped wearing some of my bf bras that were too small as the restriction made things worse... that is my understanding - and after 4 bouts I feel quite the expert!!!

I see where you're coming from... why don't you say to yourself "I'll give it a month" and then see how you feel?

Fooey · 28/02/2007 07:28

Yeah, if your underwired bras are not a perfect fit (and let's face it, if your breasts are still changing size all the time they are not always going to be), the pressure can cause blocked ducts and hence mastitis.

And telling me I am flat chested is not exactly news to me, you big show offs

Fooey · 28/02/2007 07:31

Oh and at accidental more baby vibes

dp's swimmers would have to escape from his pants and swim 10 ft across the bed at the moment to reach me, but apart from that, nice idea

Fonk · 28/02/2007 08:46

surely the key q though is

minty or original?

yellowrose · 28/02/2007 09:14

Nothing wrong with a glass or two of wine and pretty underwear when you bf !

I NEED underwiring due to size of boobs. If you get one properly fitted for you, I am sure you will find a good one !

M&S has nice ones for bigger/saggy boobs

her · 28/02/2007 09:19

go procrastimater!
go procrastimater!

once you get to a year, you CAN go out and get pissed, you CAN stay out all night and party
the next bit is the best bit, honest!
but you know that....

her · 28/02/2007 09:21

(yes I have worn underwired bras for the majority of my bf life of years, as long as they are well fitting and you pull them DOWN not up it is fine according to a bfc I spoke to)

procrastimater · 28/02/2007 12:14

yay just a month and a half till i put on the pretty bras then!!

Might as well make the most of the cleavage until i stop and they turn into empty purses - (sob)- or is there hope that I retain the DD's???
