Aptamil Anti-Reflux milk. Too thick. Help!

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm following the instructions to the T, using cooled boiled water and rolling it around in my hands after adding the powder, but DS just can't get it through the teat!

I'm using Avent bottles and have even bought the 3month+ teats even though he's only 7 weeks old, but still nothing is coming through.

He has had terrible reflux since the day he was born and doesn't settle down after feeds because of it. I know others swear by this milk so I really don't want to give up on it just yet.

We used anti-reflux milk with our first and used Dr Browns bottles with a 3 month teat which worked. Maybe try going up another test size?

You probably need a Y cut teat then, although like PP we used Dr Brown's with 3 month teat as the Y cut was too fast for DD.

Also, are you sure the water isn't too cool when you put it in? If it isn't dissolving properly it'll be clogging the teat.

We used avent variflow teats - the y shaped ones.

We used to give it a good stir (with sterile spoon).

Aven doesn't get bigger holes with the faster teats, it just gives more holes. You need variflow or a different teat with larger hole

You must use hot water to make up bottles as it is the milk that may contain bacteria. Try making up with half hot water shaking and then adding the premeasured cooled water.

Heir some of these specialist formulas need cooled water not hot, as explained in the instructions on the formula itself.
