Possetting???

I've spoken to the delivery suite and midwives and they are all saying the same thing, that it's normal and to space her feeds and do it upright etc, but it's not getting better. Every time DD feeds no matter the amount it eventually comes back up! I'm winding her but she doesn't seem to be a massive burper (lots of wind though!) and the midwife says I'm doing it right. Just really worried she won't put on weight and feel like I'm letting my little girl down!! Any suggestions??

The amount they can vomit up can look larger than it actually is. I doubt that she's bringing back up all of her feeds, even though it looks like a lot. When is your next weigh in?

She's only 3 days old!!! So not for another couple days, and this is my first so I'm a bit panicky. I managed to feed her earlier without having a problem, so I'm thinking I'm literally just a worrier! But it's good to know that it can look like more, feeling a lot calmer now Blush

At 3 days they do lose weight

They soon start to pack it back on

It's completely normal to posset and it looks a lot more than what it is.

It will eventually calm down

Are you bottle feeding? How much are you giving her? Did you have a c section?

My DD constantly brings back up her milk. She's 6 weeks now and is putting on weight. My advice is to see it as a laundry problem not a feeding problem and to carry a muslin at all times, I was also worried she would choke but the doc said that won't happen as they will.just cough it back. Best of luck

Totally normal. My DD has almost grown out of it now at 8 months but we still get a bit back every so often. Agree it's best to try & view it as a laundry problem.

I worried too about this but he put on weight very well. In the early days we had mountains of laundry (then I learned to use a dribble bib). He's 4 months now and only does it if he's comfort feeding and overloading his wee tummy, but it took a good 2-3 months before he didn't posset after EVERY feed. Holding him upright after a feed helped a lot though, which was a nightmare at night feeds. Putting him down too early meant a total change of clothes and crib sheets. It does get better but I understand how upsetting/annoying it can be. Flowers
