How will I breastfeed - speed awareness course

Regrettably I was caught going over the speed limit about a month ago. I want to opt for the speed awareness course rather than get the points but I have a 3wk old baby and I'm breastfeeding...I rang them today and was told that they can prepare a room for me in order to BF in and that I can leave the course to feed whenever I need but...I can't have him in with me where the course is held. Someone would have to look after him outside. But I don't decide when he feeds, he does and sometimes he'll feed for a few hours at a time. What can I do?!

A three month old baby can easily go 4 hours without a breastfeed. Three weeks would be hard, but not quite as impossible as you think.

I did a one morning BSL course when dd was 5 weeks old. I fed her just before and she slept for three hours. Dh has a bottle of expressed milk which she refused. She was crabby for the last half an hour, but dh managed to keep her entertained?

You can book a course for a few months time, that's what I did. They are very good at giving you a lot of opportunity to take the course instead of the fine.

I did this course on Thursday with my 11 week old ds who I am EBF! I was caught speeding in August so booked the course for as late as possible within the timeframe allowed.

I took my mum along, they were very accommodating providing a nice room with a lock, drinks & biscuits.

My advice would be get there about an hour early so you can sit & feed as much as possible before it starts. There was a 15 min break half way through & the course finished 1/2 an hour early. I was made to feel that if needed to go out it wasn't a problem at all.

Phones had to be turned off, but the course leader went & spoke to my mum & said if she needed me to bang on the door.

If you book your course for a couple of months ahead, you may even have had time to get your head around expressing & taking some along (I haven't managed this yet!).

Please don't worry, I stressed about it & it was fine... biggest problem is staying awake Wink
