Re-establishing breastfeeding after thrush.

My friend has a 3 week old baby and I did some initial support with her around bfing/latch etc. I just called her today and she has thrush (diagnosed by MW but does sound correct) and is now expressing and bottle feeding. The baby is feeding every four hours with only a bit of formula added and seems content but my friend is eager to try and start bfing direct soon.
I have been able to give her plenty of thrush advice as I had it lots but having never stopped latching on I am unsure as to where to start with this support.
I fully understand why she gave up - if I'd have got thrush with my first at 3 weeks I probably would have too. It would be great if she could get back to at least some bfing or she will be a slave to the pump for ever more.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks Kazbeth, I remember you well from my thrushy times .

Yes I did say to try not to push it but suggested that she try gently once a day or so whilst we get the thrush under control. The baby seems quite happy with 4 hourly feeds and takes 4-5 oz per bottle, settling nicely after a burp. She is gaining a few ounces and will be weighed again Monday.

You know I find it difficult to advice people who get into this bottle routine as going back to feeding on demand must seem like a backwards step. Where do people get these misconceptions from that bfing is easy peasy and that babies will just feed on routine from day one...grrrr! It's just soooo much easier once you get going to take a boob out and about rather than a bottle.
