question re maternity bras

Hi all,
I am currently 35 weeks with first and hope to breast feed. I?ve been advised that I should get fitted for at least one feeding bra before the birth. I don?t want to spend too much money (as bfeeding may not work out, plus I am not sure even an ?expert? fitter will have a real idea of what size/shape my boobs will end up!). So I have some questions?.
Where/who would you recommend to do fitting- I was going to go to John Lewis, as they were quite helpful with maternity bras. When or did your ribcage shrink back? I had a 30 inch chest before I got pregnant, but as my ribs have spread out I am now more like 34 inch back??. I don?t care what size I end up but if I buy a 34 inch bra then end up 32 inches 2 weeks after having baby I will feel a little stupid.
And finally is all this necessary anyway?? I mean could I just wait until after the birth/ milk comes in etc (or am I being mad in thinking I will make it out for a bra fitting in the first month!),
Cheers for the advice

I'd go for a bravado bra if I were you. They're stretchy but firm, so they'll give you support but still fit your expanding/shrinking shape.

am wondering the same thing even though this is my third!

I have the phone number of my local NCT bra fitting specialist which I found out about from MN so I'm going to ring her and ask what she thinks. Maybe there's one near you too?

the nct has bra fitting specialist?! Mmme, maybe that is the way forward then.....
The bravado ones look dead comfy- cheers treacletart....

do get at least one/two
even if it isn't exactly the right size, you will be grateful - your boobs may grow more than you can possibly imagine to the point where there's no chance of stuffing them in an existing bra - and you may well NEED to be wearing one for support (and to put breast pads in!). you can then get some more when everything has settled down.

second the NCT specialist if you have one. if not, John Lewis or Blooming Marvellous are good bets.

I too 2nd the Bravado Bras.. i got mine from
here and received it the day after i ordered it. The thing i like most about these bras are that the back is like a sports bra so you can feel the support all round!

I'm so glad I've found this thread! I've been thinking the same thing. I'm only 25 weeks at present but can already feel that my bosoms are entering yet another growth spurt. God knows what size I'll end up. I do like the look of those Bravado ones - especially the 'original' ones; they seem to give you a good, supportive fit whilst also allowing for a possible further size change. I think I'll get some of those when the time comes.

hi determination- stupid question, but on the bravado bras where do they unclip (to get them on and off) as the pics make it seem like you pull them over you head?

You do indeed pull them on over your head - not the most elegant way to get in and out of your lingerie, and certainly not recommended for burlesque not even the leopard print, but practical and very comfy

determination · 14/02/2007 19:41

Yeh, pull them over your head and feel the shere comfort and support all day long... they are amazing!!
