Tomy easyheat - what the heck is it?

I've been given a bottle warmer thing called "Tomy easyheat" in a bag of baby stuff.

Kind of gel-filled cosy that goes around a bottle - but not clear from instructions what it does. Can you magically heat up bottle with it when out and about? or is it just to use in the kitchen, in which case why not use jug of hot water?

Is it a plug in thing or like a gel pad handwarmer thing?

Tomy easyheat Like this?

Or like this?

The second of those! A gel-filled pad in a nylon sleeve, that velcro's round the bottles. Do you "prime" it in some way and then take it out, activate it and warm the bottle?

I think I've got it - took it out of the sleeve to look for the "metal disk". I squished the little tiny disk about the size of a penny - and it's suddenly gone opaque/hard and warm - sort of freezing in reverse. Not particularly warm though.

Have just checked and it doesn't fit a wide bottle like the ones I have - would need to be an old-fashioned narrow one. Perhaps it could be an emergency hot water bottle!
Thanks Skribble.

Ah yes you crack the disk to activate it, it does heat up a bit, works better if you knead it a bit as it hardens, you will get about 20 to 30 mins decent heat out of it, so if you give it enough time it would take the chill off of a bottle of milk when out and about, but you ain't gonna heat a jar of food with it or boil water for tea .

To re-use put in a pan of boiling water when you get home, it reverses the reaction, take it out once the it has gone clear and liquid again.

Also good for warming your hands up or putting on a stiff cold neck or on tummy for period pains.

Yes good point - I usually have a half-day each month festooned with hot water bottles!
