Breastfeeding to Bottlefeeding - Nipple shaped teats???

You used to be able to get these years ago (about 15 years ago!!) - they were shaped differently to normal teats and went to the top of babies mouths like a nipple does - has anyone seen them lately or know where I could get some??

(For a friend by the way!)

the only thing i can think of are the nuby teat by tommee tippee....from boots. think tescos does them as well.

Twinkie · 14/06/2004 14:44

Are they the ones with little lumps around a normal shaped teat??

Your friend could try Nuk teats - they are a different shape and come in either latex or silicone. They also have an air vent. They can be difficult to get hold of - I know Boots stock some of them. A good chemist may have a better stock. Or you can get them online from pharmacy2U.co.uk. I used them for ds before he went on bottle-strike.

the playtex teats appear to get squished in dd's mouth like she does the nipple.
here's somewhere that does
mail order for them

busybee123 · 15/06/2004 18:55

yes twinkie they are. my friend used them and her baby was 'obsessed with booby' as she put it...said they were great. not used them myself though. i use the dr browns cos the milk is a more natural flow like the breast and reduces colic

bluebear · 15/06/2004 19:56

We use playtex (see bundle's link)...scarily realistic action..breastfed dd refused all other teats (and I tried lots!)

Bundle/bluebear, I hadn't heard of these Playtex bottles and I'm so inspired that I think I'll order some to see if my stubborn bf baby will stop the bottle strike. I've tried everything else on the market. Maybe I'm dense but what's the difference between the Easy Feed nurser and the original nurser? Do you have experience with both?

bundle · 16/06/2004 17:01

I think the original are best - the easy feed have a push-up bit at the bottom which is supposed to eliminate any air but I found the design a bit clumsy & it's easier to get the liners out from the bottom (if you use the old-style rolled up ones, as opposed to the ready for action new-style ones which imo look a little like female condoms..). also I think the rubber teats are better than silicon. my girls tend to hold their own bottles and they don't seem to need to be held upside down to stop air going in either.

Help!! I'm a working mum & trying to juggle breast feeding and bottle feeding. I've been expressing milk for my childminder to give my baby boy (Henry)during the day, but he's not really taking to the bottle. Feeding is becoming incresingly difficult & he keeps crying. I'm really worried, & wondered if anyone out there has expereicned this??? Has anyone got any tips??

Thanks!

Hi, I too am looking for the teets that are nipple shaped, and can't seem to find them anywhere, the only one I have found was from boots but is made of latex and don't really want to use them as they discolour etc. any advice or web links would be much appreciated.
Thanks
