Hi, have just taken one tablet as back of packet did not mention that you could not take if b/f. However after taking one read leaflet inside packet that said you cannot take if b/f. Very worried now as little one needs feeding.I do have some formular in house - should I feed it to him. How long should I wait to b/f - 2 hrs?

How old is your baby?

From what I know, iboprofen only goes into breast milk in miniscule quantities, and you shouldn't worry about it. Ah, look, here is a page from nhs direct saying the same thing.

All medicines say that, because there's so little research on drugs and bfeeding that the companies take the easy way out and just put a warning on to stop people suing them. Pharmacists may say the same, just to cover themselves.

In fact in virtually all cases the benefits of bfeeding are assumed to outweigh any theoretical risks from tiny quantities of drugs passing into the milk. There are very few drugs that are absolutely contraindicated in bfeeding, mainly anticancer drugs that damage rapidly dividing cells. Prescription-strength painkillers may make your baby very slightly sleepy, but nurofen is unlikely to have any effect at all.

I know about this stuff, cos I fed three babies (not all at once!) while taking heavy-duty immunosuppressants and painkillers, so I've researched it pretty extensively.
