Glass baby bottles

Hello,

I'm looking into glass baby bottles. DC1 is due soon and I'm looking at options if breastfeeding doesn't work or for if I end up expressing. Has anyone used glass baby bottles please? For various reasons I think I'd prefer them to plastic but I was hoping for some advice from parents who'd used them.

Is there a particular reason you're against plastic. My DS is 4 months old and bottle feeds because we failed at breastfeeding after a 10 week battle! He already likes to try and hold the bottle himself, and I'd be worried a glass one would be heavy and could hurt him when he invariably drops it on his face. I'd also worry about it chipping or shattering.

I used glass ones on the rare occasions that I bottle fed some expressed milk. I used the born free ones and they were excellent. Yes, they are much heavier but you wouldn't leave a baby to feed themselves with it so that's not a problem. We switched to a soppy cup at 8 months for expressed milk / water at which stage we could leave him to hold it himself.
The valve in the born free bottles are very good. I had a variety of different plastic bottles too but only used them once each as I much preferred the glass born free ones.

Hi there, I use NUK glass bottles , for some expressed breast milk previously and I've introduced a bottle of formula before bed for my five and a half month old. I really like them, I find glass easy to clean whereas plastic can sometimes seem like it gets a bit gross, but it might be all in my head!

Always used glass bottles. Initially I did not like the way plastic bottles deteriorate with use and felt they were less hygienic. Then I read an article about chemicals in the plastic that can transfer into the milk.

Mam do glass bottles. Mam teats are often liked by breast fed babies. The chemical are BPA and most bottles are BPA Free.

Thank you. Sorry I've not been back, Friday was a bit hectic and we were out yesterday (trying to decide on a buggy - my head is cabbaged!).
I'm not 'against' plastic as such but some of the sentiments above are reasons why I'm looking at glass (I worked at a nursery with plastic bottles and saw how grotty some got but as long as baby's fed I'm happy, just exploring my options).

Our plastic bottles are discloured from going in the dishwasher with tomato things but they are clean.

Good luck with buying a pram I found this more difficult than choosing a house.
