Stained Milk Bottles

I'm having to give DS formula top-ups because he has weight issues, and last night DH put all of his brand new bottles in the dishwasher before sterilising them for me. We had tomato pasta for dinner last night so I've opened the steriliser to find the bottle lids and teats to be stained a red/orange colour. Is there a baby-safe way to get rid of the stains? I know you can try bleaching plastics normally but I'm not sure I want to do that with baby bottles.

This happened to us, so annoying! Ended up buying new ones and hand washing from then on. No advice on the cleaning of them, sorry!

Haven't tried it myself but I read bicarbonate in water then leave out in the sun should remove staining.

This happened to me too. I couldn't clean it off so ditched the bottles and bought new ones. I always hand wash now.

This happens with plastics. If you put some oil on a cloth or kitchen towelling and rub firmly over the surfaces inside and out then some or all may come out. Obviously they would need washing thoroughly with washing liquid afterwards.

By oil I mean edible oils eg olive oil.

This has happened to mine at some point or another in the last 8 years - I don't think it makes them unsafe though? They just don't look as nice as they do new. So no advice re. Cleaning the stains off I'm afraid but I think they're fine to use if you can't/do t want to replace them.

This happened to some of ours, we just kept using them, it's only cosmetic!

I'd second trying Milton. Not sure how well it will work on bottles but I used to soak DDs white high chair straps in Milton and all the food stains came out and they looked as good as new.
