My daughter has had days where she has extremely bright green poos - almost luminous that even health visitors have made out they've rarely seen. She's 13 weeks, bf only & is gaining weight well. She seems perfectly happy in herself but have sent off 2nd stool sample as 1st on was lost...
Just wondering does anyone have experience of identifying foods that cause greener & looser stools than normal? I have a vague suspicion it's when I eat more fruit - esp apples & pears

Green stools can be an indication of antibiotics in the milk - are you on any medication? Also if frothy can indicate too much foremilk, but this sounds unlikely in your case as baby gaining weight well and happy in herself. In fact, sounds like you and baby are doing really well, by the two criteria that are worth anything.

I doubt that fruit would have an effect
I wouldn't worry too much if she seems content

One of my favourite Mumsnet quotes goes something like "Green poo is often a sign of green poo" .

My DS is 6 months now, exclusively bf and has a WIDE range of poo hues. I think you could drive yourself mad trying to identify whether something you had eaten had caused the prob. Echo what others have said - if babe is gaining weight and is otherwise happy, probably not a problem.

Thanks for the reassurances - since I wrote last week she seems better - even nappies without any poo which is a change! I feel better about it all now anyway -it was the health visitors' comments that got me concerned in the first place...

green poo can mean, that a Baby gets to much foremilk, but if your Baby is fine and gaining weight well, etc....I don't think it's actually a problem!
ANd green poo is not rare at all.
