Sure it's too late to reply now but I think it's an hour. I wouldn't risk longer.

There was a thread on this not long ago and it was hours which made me feel better 'cos I am very lax! It was something about it being a 'live' product...will have a look out of curiosity!

From La Leche

Human milk can be stored

at room temperature (66-72°F, 19-22°C) for up to 10 hours
in a refrigerator (32-39°F, 0-4°C) for up to 8 days
in a freezer compartment inside a refrigerator (variable temperature due to the door opening frequently) for up to 2 weeks
in a freezer compartment with a separate door (variable temperature due to the door opening frequently) for up to 3 to 4 months.
in a separate deep freeze (0°F, -19°C) for up to 6 months or longer.

Wow!!!! Hope you didn't chuck it.

Debbsy your post made me smile!! My DP forgot to put a nappy wrap on DD2 last week and I left her in a creche for the first time - she just got piss wet through!! Mind you it is the first time he's done this in 3 years...

Started my LLL peer counsellor training last week so was a good excuse to find the website.

it keeps much longer than formula.

if your house is at 70 degrees F or 19 degrees C, at least 6 hrs.

dd gets one bottle of expressed milk at nursery. it is given at room temp and 3 hrs later when i arrive she has just finished it and i have tasted it and it is still not 'off' eventhough her saliva would have contaminated it 3 hrs before hand.

kiskidee · 14/01/2007 09:38

how is the bf going debbsy? i remember how difficult you were finding nights at 3 wks.

Debbsyandson · 14/01/2007 14:34

oh, well done you.

i remember how hard the early days are. my dh worked away in scotland from m-f till dd was 10 weeks old. We have no one nearby to help. I remember one morning around week 4 when i was sitting on the stairs at 4 am, literally sobbing with exhaustion and having poor dd bawling her eyes out in her cot too. i was so exhausted.

out of necessity, i would co-sleep part of the night and it made all the difference. i was so frightened to do it but as i read up more about how bf mothers and bf babies are certain instincts unique to them, i began to trust myself more with having dd in bed with me.

sorry, i didn't mean to go on so. your early days re-awoken those long nights for me. (not a bad thing now!)
