White nipple tip - Thrush?

Have been fighting thrush on and off for almost 6 months - since week 6, DS now nearly 7 months. GP v. unhelpful, fluconazole took ages to kick in then he wouldn't prescribe more, so it came back. Watching diet and taking acidophilus have kept it largely at bay - though never completely clear. Of course I over-indulged on the chocky front over Xmas, knew it was a mistake, so have been very careful about eating since then. Last night one nipple became noticeably more sore and sensitive and today I found a white patch on tip of nipple. Tonight burning pain - but I don't think its the same as the worst thrush pain at its height. Never had a sympton like this before.
I REALLY want to keep feeding - why, oh why is it so fraught with pitfalls?
Any words of wisdom gratefully appreciated.

Lady, I have come across your post and replied on another thread. Are you getting no response to this ?

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 22:46

flora - lol - I meant the baby standing on his head ! Yeh, at 7 months he won't be mobile enough, but wait until he can walk

Hey that is great laundry lover! Best of luck with the training. And ladyclaret, I am so sorry that it is sore for you . Please nag your health visitor to put you in touch with a bf counsellor, there is no substitute for having someone watch you and your baby for an entire feed. Best of luck.

Lio's right, sounds like Raynauds. I get it. Do you ever get numb fingers or toes and they go white like all the blood has drained from them? Thats' Raynauds. Usually triggered by a change in temperature so warmth of DS's mouth to a cold room may cause. There isn't much you can do except try and massage them back to life and keep them warm.
