Infant gaviscon - how to adminster to 7wk old?

My 7 week old breast fed daughter was recently diagnosed with reflux (poor weight gain and frequent, significant spitting up after feeds). The paed has prescribed Infant gaviscon which worked a treat the first day (given after she breast fed by a bottle mixed with water) but she's now refusing to take it - screws up her face after the first suck when she realises it's medication and not milk.
Can I mix the gaviscon powder with a bit of expressed breast milk into the water to try to mask the taste of the gaviscon?
She's happy taking a bottle feed of expressed milk once a day from her dad so feeding from a bottle per se doesn't seem to be a problem.

ds 1 had Gaviscon in SCBU when he was born and they mixed it with milk to give to babies.

We found that the gaviscon glooped up (if that is a word!) in bottles too quickly, so we used a syringe and DS took it very easily.

we had a nightmare with this - we ended up giving only half the dose prescribed ( one sachet) via syringe after bf. it seemed that dd spat most of it out but she must have swallowed some as the sickness reduced and the weight gain got better. we also mixed a sachet in with a bottle of ebm in the evenings, seemed fine with that.
good luck.

Have just been prescribed Gaviscon with 3 week old premie baby... we have been told by Neo-natal, and HV that we can give Before breastfeed in a syringe with expressed milk....

I agree, Gaviscon and BF baby is a total nightmare. I've given up with DS because he screams more when I try to syringe him Gaviscon than he screams from the reflux. I've found that keeping DS upright after every feed helps, I presume you give her the bottle at night so at least then you can lie her straight down having snuck in the Gaviscon.

The other option is to go back to your GP/Paediatrician and ask to try another medication. There are meds like domperidone or ranitidine that are licensed for use, don't have to be given as often and come as a smaller volume.

Best of luck
