Comments in the Sun today - I am utterly incensed!

Read this in todays Sun Woman (I know but this is the biggest selling newspaper in the UK)

Under Lifestyle Out : Public Breastfeeding
"So much in our world is now public so we will see a move back towards privacy. There will be the sense that some things should remain private and breastfeeding, certainly after the early days, is one of them. So forget being an earth mother who lets it all hang out".

Am currently writing an e-mail as I am utterly incensed that a tabloid newspaper that is famed for having young women with their breasts hanging out for male titilation should have this viewpoint on public breastfeeding. The article is from a book by Marian Salzman who is a professional trendsetter.

Is this type of article encouraging young women to breastfeed?

Im not even to get into this, because ill get even more angry. The sun of all newspapers! That's disgusting.

scatterbrain · 02/01/2007 13:39

Ahhh - but you see I would expect this from the Sun - because they are of the ilk that believe breasts are there solely for male titillation (!) and don't want to share them with hungry babies !

Does no one at all at the Sun realise the irony in printing that in the same paper as has a woman with her boobs out on page three?

HuwEdwards · 02/01/2007 13:42

January is a dull news month. The Sun is just trying to 'bait' women - don't get sucked in (pardon the pun)

sweetkitty · 02/01/2007 13:46

Still going to write an e-mail just to make myself feel better, am going to ask them to print a picture of a woman breastfeeding a baby on page 3 but they would probably get too many complaints that you couldn't see any boobs!

Clearly breastfeeding mums should stay within a 5-minute dash of home in case lo needs to feed. [hmmm]

PMSL at marketing oneself as a 'professional trendsetter'. It's amazing what can earn you money these days.
