Pampers Care Mats.

Yorkiegirl - me too. had this with dd1 and it's starting with dd3 now as she's sleeping well. I use towels (and breast pads in bra) but it's still painful. Expressing doesn't help as it encourages the breast to keep producing at night.

My breasts never stopped producing at night with dd1, I think because she slept 10-12 hours a night almost from birth which is too long for breasts to not produce for.

I got absolutely NO sympathy on this "problem" from others struggling with sleepless nights, you can imagine. it's certainly a nice problem really.

all this advice sounds good, but i wondered which breast pads you've been using? i leaked loads for about the first 3 months and found every brand of breastpad next to useless except tomee tippee (used to be maws) ones. these lasted me all night...they are not even comparable to any others i tried they are so much better. hard to find sometimes tho although bigger branches of boots do them. hth

Yorkiegirl, you have my sympathy!! I leaked at night (and during the day) with dd & ds. Also used towels. I found it stopped as my body started to settle down and my boobs were less full but I can't remember when that was! ds is 8 months now and I haven't had the sleeping in a pool of milk thing for ages.

yorkiegirl imho johnsons ones are next to no use at all...try the tomee tipee ones if you can get hold of them, i found they really worked and were the only ones that did...

butterflymum · 20/05/2004 22:18

Where's the 'blush' icon when you need it?

With my first, the only thing that really worked over night was.........an unfolded nappy inside my nursing bra (cheap brand, whichever size was best when opened out). Yes, I know that it probably also acted to draw more milk to an extent, but for a more comfortable night's sleep, it did seem to do the trick....ie the milk was going into the nappy and the top layer against my skin was staying fairly dry, so less irritation to nipple area etc.

'Blush' butterfly

if you can face it i found washable pods were far better than the disposable ones. at night i used to shove a folded muslin in my bra, one on each side. but then i leaked for england i could manage nearly 8oz off of the other side in one of those milk cup thingys!!

exaussie · 21/05/2004 11:06

I also used washable breast pads - I swear by them, cos I could have fed an army with what I leaked! Wore a bra to bed for about 6 months - what a relief it was when the leaking stopped. Can get washables in Boots - try them, the disposables are useless!

Ghosty · 21/05/2004 11:15

I use the washables too ... very very good.
I have only just stopped leaking at all sorts of silly times and DD is nearly 4 months old. When she started sleeping longer at night it took a couple of weeks for my breasts to get used to it.
What I hate is growth spurts because DD spends a couple of days feeding for England, builds up my supply again and then when the growth spurt is over I am left with leaky boobs all over again ... grrrrr

have to add that i found the advent washables the best, there the ones with the lacey backs

Coj · 21/05/2004 19:16

I still leak now on one side and Ds is 8 1/2 months! NEVER EVER buy Sainsbury's or Tesco own brand ones, completely useless. After 3 months I found Avent reusables best

exaussie · 23/05/2004 23:59

Yeh, advent washables with me too
