Breastfeeding clothes

Hi
I'm breastfeeding my LO and am looking to invest in some clothes I can easily feed in. Can anyone recommended some good brands to buy from? How many items did people need and which styles of access worked well for you? I've had a look around and I'm finding lots of maternity/nursing tops and I don't really want to buy more maternity clothes as I am hoping they will not really fit well as time goes on. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any replies! X

I bought breastfeeding tops and racerback dress on online cosabella store. The top features easy clip-on/clip-off nursing straps and slinged cups for a supportive fit with full coverage. I usually wear it to bed too.

A new range of simple and stylish breastfeeding accessories are under the 'gift for mums' section on Mumsnet.com site, Elderflower & Delilah, A breastfeeding garment and infinity scarf. Saves you renewing your whole wardrobe!

Under 'Gift for Mums' section of Mumsnet.com there are simple and stylish breastfeeding items by Elderflower & Delilah (www.elderfloweranddelilah.com). Really great accessories for keeping beyond breastfeeding too.

2 top method here too. Cheap stretchy vests from Primark / H&M / Sainsbury's. Top up vest down. It's very discrete.

I have a couple of specific bf tops and they're not for me - really awkward boob access!

I just do what many others have said; either layered tops, one up one down or a vest to pull down under a hoodie/shirt so it's not so obvious I'm partially exposed.

Nothing too tight, which is a problem when my stomach and boobs are bigger than my prepregnancy clothes can handle.

Boob label tops are amazing, I am on third baby, and find them so easy I still choose to wear them.

I have breastfed several children over several years and have never bought any specific item of clothing to do so. I don't know why you would need such a thing?
The only thing I don't really wear is dresses.

Seraphine black bamboo nursing vest tops have been fab for me. I've practically lived in them now for four years!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 20/03/2016 22:21

big button through shirt, vest top and a floofy scarf

I did vest top up, shirt round to cover, scarf if extra discretion required. but am not big of boob

also....and I may be quite out of date with this, but zipped feeding bras are a bad idea, much better to have one where the cup clips up or down.
...my youngest will be 19 this year.!!

Breastvest was ideal for me. Got one white and one black. A bit easier and cooler than 2 tops.

Another one who recomends the one up one down method. I did also do some button up shirts over vest. Drapey scarves were good at first till I felt confident. I was happier to buy normal clothes that I liked as it helped me begin to feel more like my body was mine again, I felt functional clothes were a bit frumpy and made the focus all about feeding.

Vest tops under stuff. I won't miss the restricted wardrobe when I finish breastfeeding! Had a nightmare finding a top for a wedding to feed in. Joined the 'Can I breastfeed in it' group but not to be a snob, a lot of the stuff posted is frumpy or cheap looking.

tappitytaptap · 04/08/2016 15:09

Kudos to those who breastfeed long term ... I hadn't anticipated how annoying I'd find not being able to wear most of my wardrobe and wearing the hideous bras!

StrawberryQuik · 04/08/2016 18:49

Tappitytaptap - At first I was a bit aaaargh what do I wear but now I'm quite enjoying the excuse to buy a load of new clothes. I went from a small B cup to a decent C cup and have cleavage for the first time ever.

I either do loose floaty top with vest top underneath or button down shirt with vest top underneath, or I just pop my boob out of the top of low cut tops. I couldn't get on with breastfeeding bras and wear stretchy seamless ones I can pull out the way instead.

Dresses are a bit trickier to find but I have a few that with button down or can be pulled out of the way.

For the first couple of weeks I tried to be discreet and faff about with scarves etc. but in general I don't bother as I'm not really that fussed if passers by accidentally see my nipples Grin
