i would be really grateful for any advice/suggestions as i am really stuck with this one.

my 6 mth old son is causing me a great deal of frustration and anxiety. basically he is reluctant to feed (milk or solids), especially in the day. if he is tired (eg bedtime)he will take a reasonable breastfeed. otherwise he arches his back, grizzles and becomes agitated with either the breast or a bottle of formula (which i am offering once a day in preparation for going back to work..aptamil extra). he hardly takes any solids either, so it isn't as if this is putting him off his milk feeds. quite often he gags on solids and then vomits up anything we have managed to get into him.in between feeds he is pretty happy and content. he sleeps ok too.

this has been getting progressively worse over the past 6-8 weeks and i am now getting a bit worried about it. up until this started he breastfed absolutely fine. other people have tried feeding him with the same pattern of behaviour. the gp didn't think there was much obviously wrong and wants me to carry on and reweigh him in a few weeks (he has just started to drop off the 75th centile in the last month). i am trying regular bonjela to see if it is due to teething pain (though i can see/feel no teeth) but it doesn't make any difference. in the last few days he has hardly consumed anything much at all .HELP!

Does he feed a lot in the night?
What solids have you tried? Do you feed the same thing for three days so you can see if he is allergic to anything? Perhaps try changing formula and see if things settle down. Hopefully someone else may be able to help more ...

Vig, I think this might be nursing strike.

If you look this term up you might get ideas.

It must be very worrying for you, but these things do resolve.

Bonjela will not help, I don't think - the less messing about with fingers in his mouth the better.
