My son is favouring one breast . Help!

My 2 month old son is favouring one breast and I don't know how to solve this problem. He feeds for about 10-15 mins on the left breast before crying like he has wind. No matter how much I offer or wind him, after that point he won't take it. I then put him on the right and he's fine. This never happens with the right breast.

The only time he is fine with the left breast, is in the morning when it's engourged with milk because he sleeps through most of the night.

He's on a routine and so feeds whenever he wakes from a nap. I demand feed whenever he goes through a growth spurt.

Any advice?

Exactly the same thing happened with my son, I think it was because my right breast had a really quick let down and it use to spurt at him, and he used to gulp and get wind. It started when he was about 4 weeks but seemed to resolve itself by the time he was about 10/12 weeks, he still favours my left breast slightly but not in the same way.
My Hv recommended expressing or using a hot flannel before I fed him, but I found it quite difficult to manage that with a hungry baby, but it seemed to resolve quickly.
I think someone on here will be able to give you some great advice.
Good Luck

Thank you for that advice. I just had a breastfeeding counsellor round, because I was feeling desperate and she recommended the same hot flannle and expressing that boob in the evening. So I'll try it.

Keep the advice coming ladies!!

have you tried holding him in a different position such as the rugby ball hold? it may help him think he's on your good side as he will be laid the same way round as if he was. does that make sense? it works for dd. i only feed her with her laid on her right side, and i move my body to give her each side IYSWIM.

Autumn, I had the same prob with DS2. I swapped to the "rugby hold" on the left/unpopular side and (a) the change in position seemed to make it easier for him to feed and (b) I think he thought it was the right side and didn't reject it so much. I used to stick a pillow on my lap and that made the rugby hold easier.

I already feed 'rugby hold'. I never learned to feed from the front (I'm learning now), when I try from the front, he senses I'm uncomfortable and cries and cries.
