I hope someone can help me. My ds is exactly 8 months old today and has just started biting me when i try to feed him. He normally has 2 - 3 breastfeeds per day and 1 bottle from his dad before bed. Is he trying to tell me he wants to stop? we had so many problems feeding when he was newborn and suffered nearly 2 months of thrush, so I feel really sad that he's maybe had enough of the boob. He's always been such a sucky baby and needed lots of boob time. Does anyone have any thoughts??

My dd liked to test her new teeth out on me.
When he bites, try saying "NO" and taking him off for a few moments before allowing him to latch on again.
Doesn't take them long to figure out that biting means no boob.
Well done for feeding so long and hope you can feed as long as you want!
Good Luck

Yep - as per precious post - take them off, say a sharp no - they'll learn quickly!

You poor thing, I don't think he wants to stop!..yes my little one did this to me at 8 months to my horror - and great pain. I think they are just at that stage where they have got teeth and are trying them out on anything that passes their mouth! Try not to react when he does it or he might enjoy the reaction he gets from you! I was told by my health visitor to take him straight off the boob and say 'no'. this shows him that the action results in something being taken away that he obviously loves. As cruel as it might sound you could also flick him on the ear which will be a bit of a shock and make him realise its painful when he does that (don't hate me for saying this!) If he bites and doesn't let go, hold his nose closed gently so he can't breathe and he will open his mouth so you can get him off. Hope this helps!

Thanks for all your replies. I have tried saying no, but obviously not sharp enough as he just giggles and thinks we're playing a game! Will keep trying for a little longer though.

Are you taking him off when you say No? You just need to put your little finger in his mouth and it releases the suction straight away.
