Vomity, windy baby

Hi,

DS2 is both breast and bottle fed and is just over a month old. He's very, very windy, and often vomits up pretty much a whole feed straight after he's had it. He doesn't appear to be excessively uncomfortable, just vomity. Any ideas? His twin is also very windy, but isn't sick. We've tried Infacol for about a week with no difference. Can anybody recommend anything else? Dentinox? What's comfort milk? Does that make a difference?

Thanks.

I've been up all night with my 15do DS2 doing much the same, not the vomiting but just the windy tummy, big belches, possetting etc. Not much t offer you in terms of guidance about comfort milk etc, I've always used infacol with all my children. My plan today is to try to burp him more effectively during the day, get him a bit more upright rather than lay down and try to minimise the trapped wind. If they're over a month old, can they have gripe water? My 2 eldest always slept soundly after a spoonful, it soothes and warms up their tummies. Good luck x

I'll check out gripe water. For some reason I thought it was 8 weeks and up like Calpol is.

I'm trying to burp more, but also feeding two babies at once means it can be difficult to burp each one as soon as they're finished, so by the time both are done, one's asleep and I hate to wake them. Maybe I need to though, they might sleep longer if I wake them to do it properly.

Hope you get a bit more sleep tonight. I'm hoping this sicky phase passes soon. I'm getting fed up of the constant smell of regurgitated milk!

It may be 8 weeks, it's a while since I've used it. It must be so hard with twins, I find it hard enough with one! My DS doesn't seem windy during the day but at night has these explosive poo-farts, which I reckon is trapped wind from the day, so I'm going to try extra hard to bring up a burp or 2. I have often found it easier to burp when they're sleepy/ relaxed as well, so picking him up from a sleepy state might be beneficial?

Sorry if you've already tried these but I'd experiment with holding him more upright during a feed (so air can escape the stomach instead of sitting under the milk) that seemed to help my dd.

They can sick up a feed if they've taken on too much or too quickly. A slow flow teat might help or not offering the second side if bf until a five or ten minute break to allow the milk to settle.

Some babies continue to suckle even after the stomach is full (for pleasure or comfort) but ejection is then inevitable. Maybe he is taking on too much in one feed.

Maybe try different burping positions. Pressure on his tummy might be triggering him bringing it up.

In all likelihood he will outgrow this. Though that's cold comfort for now.

Any pattern with what you've eaten? My 9wo reacts if I've eaten egg or egg protein (pesto with Grana Padano!!!) with whole feed coming back! Still get the odd posset but no more fountains!

Hi quesadillas , just wondered if you'd had any luck?
