I have been suffering with my back while feeding. Today I fed lo in Mothercare and the lovely Dutailier rocking chairs. It was lovely and very supportive of my back, and I have decided I must have one. However v expensive at £400! Anyone any experience of cheaper models?

thanks
Caroline

STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP

I got a glider chair for Christmas for about £120 BUT are you breastfeeding or bottlefeeding, because if you have a big baby and are breastfeeding you will very soon find it very difficult to position them properly. The arms prevent a proper latch.

I also realised that it was the way I was sitting in the sliding chair that was triggering off some prettty bad sciatica.

I got this one but from mothercare because I had vouchers and a 10% discount. It has blow up lumber support.

Hi Girls thanks for your help. Yes have got a big baby 10lb at birth and I think this is why I have back ache. Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure what the solution is then as I can't get verycomfortable in any chair.

Are you leaning forward to feed? You need to bring the baby up to you, not lean forward.

I would recommend feeding in an ordinary chair, sitting pretty upright and using a pillow under your baby - either a v-shaped one or an ordinary one strategically positioned.

Agree that a chair with arms is bobbins after the first few weeks - your baby will kick the arms and you won't be comfy.

I have one of the dutalier chairs, and dd is only 8 days old and can kick the arm! It's a great chair, but I am finding that I am rocking while feeding, and sending dd to sleep when she is feeding! I think I shall be using 2 chairs - one to feed, and one to settle!
