Bottle feeding - increasing volume

DD is 6.5mo, and until 4 weeks ago was breastfed. She has a milk and soy allergy, and is now on neocate formula as she was reacting to breastmilk.

The packed suggests she should have 5 feeds per day, of 6oz each. However, she usually only has 3 or maybe 4 oz each time, and is taking 7 or 8 bottles a day. I tried making smaller bottles so we wasted less, and she randomly would drain the bottles and gent angry when there wasn't enough.

I'd really like her to take more at once, and less often (the bottles are awful to clean and she'll only drink it very warm so it's difficult to go out) - does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be achieved?

At that age, she should be distractable so just try to offer feeds less often. So one at waking/breakfast time(7), one mid morning (10), one at lunchtime(1), one mid afternoon(4) and one at bedtime(7).

If there's more of a gap then she should be hungrier.

DS never fed like he was supposed to until he was on 2 bottles a day, he would generally take less that he was supposed to and would much prefer to snack.

You could also try a dream feed instead so 4 hourly bottles at 7,11,3,7 & 11 (or just before you go to bed)

She's still taking a night feed (or two Blush) so maybe we will try the dream feed. I'll try and distract her to spread them out a bit. She won't be impressed!

No need to be embarrassed about night feeds at 6.5 months! Totally normal.

Babies can only fit in a certain amount I guess and she's maybe used to feeding little and often with bf?

It must be hassle with the bottles, but if she physically can't manage to drink bigger volumes less often I'm not sure what you can do. :(

Hopefully the number of feeds will decrease as she starts eating solids. Flowers

Thanks circle
I have tried today to just push them an extra 10 mins or so, which seems to have not really bothered her.

I don't think it helps that having breastfed until v recently, and that she's had such problems with allergies, I have no idea what's norm, and it hasn't been going long enough for me to be confident.
