Pulling off, inefficient latch?

Baby, 4 months, keeps pulling off when bfing. I notice his top lip isn't flanged out. It's annoying for me as well as baby, unsure he's getting what he needs. Please help Sad

Should add he unlatches if I don't have hold of both his head and my boob. This is a very recent development and he used to be good at feeding.

Could he have developed thrush? Teething?

My dd is younger but I find she pulls off because she has wind

He's not crying though he's just letting go. No sign of thrush. Probably teeth

My ds got very very interested in the world at that age. The solution was to feed in a bedroom with dim lighting or the back seat of the car.

4 months was the beginning of DD's massive distractible phase. God it drove me up the wall. She would feed for 30 seconds, pop off, cry a bit, have a good look around, etc etc, during daytime feeds. The only thing that kept her on the boob was me feeding her standing up and walking around. It lasted for about 2 months, during which most of the world saw my nipples

Have you sat him up when it happens - mine used to unlatch when he had too much wind in there and still wanted more milk, but there wasn't room. I sat him up and he did a burp and then was able to continue.

Mine used to fuss a bit though while doing this so might be something unrelated.

I think it's happening when he gets disturbed more than distracted tbh. Poor sausage.
