Extended breastfeeding joys

My DD(3) is still BF and the other day she told me that my boobie tastes like ice cream Grin.

Anyone else have any extended breastfeeding stories?

Wait until you are BF the toys as well. That's always fun.

Today I have breastfed iggle piggle and mr tumble. The most disturbing part is that it's talking me tumble and the first thing he says when DS presses his belly is a very sinister laugh.

DD said it was nicer than hot chocolate, it must be very sweet.

I think all the joys of breastfeeding are in extended breastfeeding, it just gets so much easier and less fraught as time goes on. I truly think everyone quitting at one year old is missing out. Feeding a newborn to one year old is hard work, feeding a one to two year old is DELIGHTFUL.

DS is 18 months - I can't wait for the day he is able to tell me what my BM tastes like. If he says it's nicer than chocolate I will be chuffed Grin

My DD says it tastes like carrots and meatballs!

Grin My DD's only comfort item is "boobie". I love extended BF, it really is wonderful.

My DD didn't really do the BFing toys for a long time because she got very jealous and would move her toys away and say "No, it's my boobie!"

I love that my ds can say please but I hate that he's a nipple twiddler

Sometimes I want to quit - she is nearly 2 - but those sweet moments when she snuggles up with me in bed and pats my cheek whilst feeding make my heart burst. I love bf, really.

I started a similar thread a while ago - both mine have stopped now, boo - and a poster on there said that although her DD was quite non-verbal, when she was feeding she'd sign 'happy'..

This made me so warm inside Smile

That is so sweet stoplaughing.

It can be hard sometimes raisin, I had quite a few weeks of dread whenever DD would get a new tooth in because she would bite me. It hurt so much and she'd do it over and over.

Thankfully we stuck with it. DD was actually mixed fed, until she was about 6 months old, then she refused formula and only wanted breastmilk. She would still take a bottle though, which was nice. I'm wondering when she will want to stop. I never thought I'd be BFing a 3 year old, I can't imagine BFing a 5 year old!

Aww this is a nice thread. My DD is nearly 15months and she claps and laughs when I get my boob out! It's definitely easier than in the early days. I didn't think I would still be breastfeeding at this age! :)

Extended breastfeeding is lovely and apparently mine tasted of honey. My DD stopped feeding when she was 3.

However some things I didn't expect were that ... At about 4.5 she went through a stage of wanting boobie again (obviously a no as I had dried up....although only just) to the stage I couldn't share a bath anymore as she'd try and jump on top.

She often tells me I need to have another baby so she can have the boobie milk and the baby can have a bottle.

To this day and she's very nearly 6 if she gets into bed with me she always try's to put her hand on my boob!

Still it's lovely to know that she remembers it and that it brought her comfort.

Mouthfulofquiz · 16/09/2015 16:24

My little one who is 18 months points to a boob (or boob area) and says 'share?' when he wants some. Which is only maybe once a week now, but it's very very sweet!
