Introducing formula late on

Hi, My dd is 9months old and is breastfed. She is going to be staying with family overnight and possible a whole day in a few weeks and I am going to express as much as I can but because I do it so infrequently I don't get much quantity, I also don't find much time to express. I wondered if it was a good idea to try her on a bottle of formula so I know she will drink it and then while I am away if she does drink all the breast milk She can have formula until I'm back. My problem is I just don't know how much she will drink!

What I wanted to know is, is it silly to introduce formula so late on? And will it upset her stomach at all?
Thank you for any advice in advance.

At nine months and assuming she's on other foods, there's no reason to assume she'll be upset.
But I'd probably still try it out before to make sure she's OK with it.

It probably won't upset her stomach, at 9 months her digestive system is plenty ready to cope with new things and formula will be fine assuming she's not predisposed to be likely to have allergies. She may get on with it better in a sippy-cup or doidy cup rather than a teated bottle. It's not silly at all - lots of mums who breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months+ switch to formula at some point (for example, when teeth start to come through, or when the baby is so interested in the rest of the world they are liable to take a break to have a good look around your surroundings mid-feed leaving you somewhat on display, or if it's too difficult to keep expressing after returning to work) everyone gets to make their own choices for what works for them ad nothing is silly if it works for you.
