Safe milk storage/expressing equipment

Would this be ok?-Express some milk then put the whole expressing kit (the bottle and funnel etc, not the electric bit) into the fridge, take out a few hours later and express again, then transfer the milk into a sterile bottle?? Do I need to disassemble the kit, wash and sterilise it and reassemble it everytime I express, even if it's only a few hours apart?

Yes, you can do that! It's a useful trick.

Only slight disadvantage is that the milk is harder to shift later when you do wash it. It needs a bit more scrubbing. You may need to use a bottle brush where you otherwise could have got by without one, for example.

But well worth it to save the faff of cleaning it all every time, especially in the middle of the night!

If you are doing this in the longer run, you may want to invest in some spare parts so you can wash and sterilise even less often, say once a day.

Yeah i do this. I put a sandwich bag over the pump mouth for extra hygiene so it won't touch anything raw (if dh was playing fridge Jenga to find beer and ham ...).

Yes I do this too. You can put the parts in the dishwasher then sterilise to get rid of dried milk bits.
