Mixed feeding- baby now refusing bottle

My 5 m/o DS is mainly breastfed, however he has a bottle of formula before bed, which DH usually gives to him. However, the past couple of nights, DS has started refusing this bottle. He will take maybe 3oz (usually takes 7), then refuse to take any more. He's not full, as if we put him to bed, he will cry due to hunger then take a full breastfeed from me.
He has had a cough for the past few days, and could also be teething, however I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice as to how to encourage him to take the bottle again. DH is getting very sad that his nice quiet time with DS is disappearing.

I went through this too - how old is he?

Sorry - just saw his age at the start. I tried making lots of holes in the teat to mimic the nipple 'gush' with a sterile needle. I also tried making the milk a little hotter, which helped a lot (DS1 hated anything above lukewarm temp - still does, whereas DS2 hates cold things and has an asbestos mouth). I also tried feeding with baby opposite me in a bouncy chair rather than in my arms, which helped. Eventually the penny dropped that he was happier with a cup rather than a bottle, and we went onto the Heinz baby basic cups, which have a very soft teat and no valve, importantly. Boots used to sell them, and I have recently seen them again in larger Tescos. Do keep going, but bear in mind there is nothing more stubborn in life than a baby with a nipple fixation (and we all know that that is a common male trait!) I hope this helps - I know it's hard to go through at the time, but it does end, eventually!
