Would charities accept formula?

I have 14 tins of Neocate formula that ds was on until recently. His consultant then changed his prescription. I understand that even if I return these to the pharmacy, they will just be disposed of and not re-issued which I can understand. As they are well in date and unopened I wondered if someone like the red cross would be able to make use of them. They are designed for dairy intolerant babies but as they are a complete food, would be suitable for any baby if the need was that great. Any suggestions anyone?

There are rules about the safe distribution of infant formula that all the big charities should follow, jj. I would be surprised if any of them would take it from you, to be honest . Cat and dog shelters sometimes take unwanted and out of date formula, I hear...maybe that's your best bet.

Thanks tiktok, glad to hear that they are so careful, just seems a shame for these to go to waste.

Maybe post a notice in your local baby clinic ?

Kayleigh, this would be illegal....no one is allowed to give away formula. This protects formula feeding mothers and breastfeeding mothers.

Mothers should choose formula on the basis of discussions with their HPs, not on the basis of whether it is free or not....this makes even more sense with jj's baby's speciality formula, which is only meant for babies with digestive problems.
