Prescribed Imfantrini formula week due to poor weight gain

My ds is 10 weeks and has had slow weight gain since birth. He weighed 6 pounds at birth and is 8lbs 3 ounces now. It also took him a while to regain his birth weight. Consequently he is below the 1st percentile and so we are going to try to boost him with infantrini (high calorie milk) plus gaviscone powder to help his (possible) mild reflux.
The whole thing is worrying me a little. I really hope it works. I would appreciate hearing from you if you've had a similar experience.
Thank you.

I do not have experience with my own dd but have looked after many babies on infatrini (nurse). It is high calorie but generally well digested and really helps with weight gain if reflux is controlled.
Gaviscon is a mild anti-reflux powder. If you do not feel it helps then please go back to your dr as they can prescribe ranitidine/ omeprazole. As good as the milk is it will only help if your ds can keep it down.
I hope the new milk helps and your ds puts on weight soon Flowers

How many percentile lines has he fallen? Although he is small, don't worry too much if he's gained slowly and drifted from the 9th to the 2nd (for example) - my GP said that's actually less worrying than a 95th percentile child falling to the 50th iyswim.
My dd was born on the 25th and "found her line" under the 9th at about 10 weeks. No medical intervention was needed so being small evidently didn't harm her - the formula should bulk up your ds so hopefully nothing to worry about. But it is awful at the time.

Unfortunately since she's become mobile at 7+ months she's dropped to just on/above the 2nd ... but of course we are weaning now so they probably don't have anything to prescribe. Sad

My DS was on Infatrini as he was very premature & had increased calorie requirements due to lung disease.

He tolerated it fine & then moved onto Paediasure Plus; using these he moved from below the 0.4th centile to between 9th & 25th.

He also had reflux & needed Omeprazole (adult dose) & Domperidone, and he eventually grew out of it by 3ish.

Lotsof is that the stuff you can get off prescription from boots? If so, from what age can you use it?

My little dd is very active but can't quite eat enough to maintain growth because she's small/slender but lots of gross motor skills. The hv has suggested feeding oils and butters, but she is also extremely easily distracted and I wonder if a follow on calorie drink would help (mixed with bf which I also want to maintain at least once a day because dh has asthma and I have an autoimmune condition).

Oh she's on solids and 8 months approx. Not a tiny (on just milk, before mobility, she followed her line).

Thanks for this. I really appreciate your comments. Ds seems pretty content and happy on the new milk. Will let you know how his weight gets on. Xx

Me again! Ds is struggling to drink the amount that the doctor told us to feed him (700ml). I think it is because it's so creamy and thick compared to the aptimil.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Ahhhh!
