Ouch

Have you got any Lansinoh?

poppynboo · 08/11/2006 20:32

ouch! perhaps a bit obvious but what about savlon?

I think water'd be okay but dd is much younger so not sure.

sympathy for your bite though.

2 things:

  1. get a nipple shield from Boots and feed with that for a few days until you are healed.
  1. If, as I found, you open it up again every time he feeds, my solution was to paint the wound with nu skin (from any chemist)Stings like hell but covers the would with a waterproof film which seems to resist breastfeeding.

Good luck!

Ow!
It's taken me almost an hour to put ds to bed, as he bit me every time I tried to feed him He's never done it before, but thankfully not as badly as yours.

Lasinoh is the thing to use, but wear breast pads or it will stain your bra.

No problem giving him water.

3mum You are obviously an expert on this. How can we stop them doing it?

Afraid I never did work that out. He only did it two or three times and the final and worst time I yelled so loudly and nearly dropped him from the shock he never did it again, but probably not a recommended technique!

I believe that if you can remain calm the approved thing is to hold their nose briefly so they disengage but I only ever thought of that later.

I wondered about chemicals in the nu skin but I was really desperate, nothing else worked and the hole in my nipple was getting larger with every feed (sorry if TMI). All I can say is it worked for me and he seemed to have no ill effects.

My dd started biting me a couple of months ago, luckily she has no teeth yet! I pulled her face in towards me so that she had to let go to breath everytime she did it and this seemed to do the trick.

poppynboo · 08/11/2006 21:26

I heard that if they bite you pull them into your breast. Their need to breathe makes them let go.

sudacream's the same thing as savlon and I think its okay for bf.

Lansinoh is great. You could also express a little milk and bathe your "battle wound"!! with it, Its quite soothing.
