just wanted to acknowledge the end of a lovely era. I fed ds1 until he was 2.5yo. it was so hard in the beginning - he had lip tie, I had vasospasm - the pain! he self weaned during my pg with ds2. ds2 starts school in september (hes 4 in july) and I just thought 'its time'. he had his last bf this morning, snuggled up, eyes half closed. love. I had been preparing him for 'the end' and bought him a torch to take to bed instead of bf. hes fast asleep now, a big boy!!

my life is all endings and new beginnings. a necessary part of life. I just wanted to say 'cheers- nice work' have a little weep and get on with my college work - off to uni in sept to do SLT degree Smile Smile

How lovely - and what a lovely way to prepare him too.

I'm guessing you must feel bittersweet. The end of one era and the start of a new chapter in your life!

Good luck with your course, how exciting!

Oh I'm feeding PFB at 18months and already sad about the idea of it ending (not that it seems like it ever will if she has anything to do with it!). Your post brought tears to my eyes and hope you're doing ok today, what a good attitude to it all you're displaying.

stottiecake · 18/04/2015 20:24

oh thank you Smile he has just had a bf and fallen asleep on my lap - about to pop him into bed! I think this is going to be a winding down sort of stopping Grin

With dd1 we sometimes went up to two weeks in between feeds. She gradually stopped. It was a good way to end it over a few months.

The only issue was I didn't know when the last feed was the last feed if that makes sense

MagpieCursedTea · 18/04/2015 21:30

Aww congratulations on such successful breastfeeding OP (I really fancy a stottie sandwich whenever I read one of your posts Wink), very inspirational!

stottiecake · 18/04/2015 22:39

Grin I think the slowly stopping is the way forward - I think its good not knowing its the last bf - a gradual transition! its suiting us better I think! thank you for your messages Smile Smile

I really wanted to self wean but DD bit me so hard multiple times I nearly needed stitches and decided to stop. I remed her last successful feed so well say in costa with that milk drunk luck on her face age 7 months. You have done so well and I am a little bit jealous. Well done op x

Amybabygypsyqueen · 18/04/2015 23:10

Sorry I'm in my phone. *remember and look

Amybabygypsyqueen · 18/04/2015 23:11

Ffs I'm not in my phone I promise.

BlacknWhitePanda · 18/04/2015 23:14

I'm only 17 weeks in.. We have good days and we have bad days... But there's something reassuring to read positive experiences and find then inspiring to carry on myself!

Good look in your next chapter op!

Goldmandra · 18/04/2015 23:15

Both of my DDs stopped gradually and both had their last feeds within a week of their third birthdays. I'm so glad I didn't know when they were having their last feeds, especially the second time around.
