Stopping breastfeeding at 20 months

I do 1 feed just before bed every night. My son has a cup of milk after his bath, and drinks a sensible amount, then also wants a breastfeed afterwards to 'send him off'. I keep wondering whether there is actually any / much milk being produced and whether he is just 'feeding' for comfort? What do you think?
Anyway - I am going away for 2 nights on Friday, and wanted some advice - will it be ok to just 'stop' cold turkey, or is there still a mastitis risk at this stage? I have left him for 2 nights before on a couple of occasions but as soon as I'm back he just carries on like there was no break! My husband can put him down to sleep fine as long as I'm not in the house.
Thank you in advance Smile

I would think dropping one feed would be absolutely fine at this stage.

I stopped at 20 months with no problems at all - i was pregnant though so I think my supply was low.

I felt very hormonal and sad for a couple of weeks even though I was mostly glad we had stopped - just a heads up. It did pass.

Well done xx

I stopped at 19 months (DS lost interest) and I found my boobs got really hot and sore. Expressing a tiny bit (just by hand) every 2-3 days sorted that out. But you may be fine without. I felt a bit off colour for a couple of weeks- headachey and hormonal.

And yes- congrats on making it this far Smile

Thank you both for your replies. I am paranoid about mastitis as had it early on with first daughter and it is so horrid. Am going abroad so will not take pump (also my pumping days are over - I hated the faff!), but will definitely hand express a bit just incase as suggested. I kind of doubt whether there will be anything there! Will watch out for the hormonal blues type dip - thank you for the heads up xxx
