6 month weaning- slight weight dip

Just looking for reassurance as the hv seemed to think it was a blip due to my dd having had a bad cold and being in the early stages of weaning.

She usually tracks just below the 9th percentile but has fallen (within the same line though - roughly the 4th now I'd say) because she's gained about 1 lb less than usual over the last 8 weeks. She went from about 5.55 kg to 6.2kg (expected gain would be about 6.7kg+).

She's just started weaning - which the hv said can cause a temporary slow down.
She also had a dreadful cold which gave her the runs 2 weeks ago. The Hv also said this may well have caused the blip.

She doesn't eat a huge volume at the moment but enjoys porridge, avocado, cheese and other "substantial" foods - shall I up these in her solids feeds?
She's also very nosy when breastfeeding at the moment but I don't think she's nosey enough to make herself hungry for a look around! Grin

No need to worry, squizita, and no need to weigh, either :) babies who are thriving and developing normally don't need to be weighed more often than every two months. It says that in the red book. More often, and you get useless or misleading data.

Whatever the reason for the current weights, and your Hv has made some sensible suggestions, it's all within normal.

Time to look at the baby, and not the scales!

To clarify - no more often than two mthly after age of six mths.

Smile Thanks. Just me being pfb as ever!

Yeah they said she is growing, and are confident it's a minor blip. Grin
