Fybogel and breastfeeding

I have been prescribed Fybogel and since then it seems as though ds (7 weeks) has been having real problems with wind and screams after a feed for upto an hour or so. Is a connection likely or is it just a coincidence...? Grateful for any advice.

Fybogel is a laxative/high fibre drink, yes? Made from Ispagula husk? Anyway, this site reckons it shouldn't have any effect on breastfeeding...

AnnaK,
If it's perscribed can I assume that it's not the normal Fybogel you can buy over the counter from the chemist, but the one with the antispasmodic Mebevrin?

I have this and was told not to take it when I was pregnant, but no-one said anything about breastfeeding. Perhaps you should check with your HV or DR if this may have an affect.

May well just be a coincidence.

It is the standard Fybogel. Prescriptions are free to anyone with a baby under one year old and the doctor can prescribe quite large quantities which would be very expensive to buy over the counter. I have 120 sachets!

In that case, as boingyzebra says, can't see that it should affect your wee one. Why not try not taking it for a day and see if this makes any difference?
