10 week old, EBF, change in feeding habits?

My 10 week old is usually a fantastic feeder but past 10 days i've noticed she is feeding differently.

She has gone from always wanting to be on boob to only feeding when she is hungry. Is this something they naturally do? Don't get me wrong I prefer it this way as it's been hard having a constantly feeding baby with my toddler.

She had her rotovirus jab 9 days ago and was a bit more poo'ey / sicky than usual (she is quite a sicky baby in general) on days 4-5 afterwards.

She has wet and dirty nappies, she is smiling and cooing, she does seem to suffer quite badly with wind though. She also sleeps 4-5 hours in one go most nights.

My main concern is that up until just over a week ago my boob soothed everything. Now if she isn't hungry popping her on boob makes her angry and upset. Is this normal?

TIA

My 10wo is exactly like what you describe so I wouldn't worry. Boob used to be the answer to everything, now a cuddle with my pinky in his mouth for a few minutes is more effective and he will only be on the boob if hungry.

Thanks.

I never BF pfb (I expressed and then moved to formula) so this is all new.

When baby is hungry she still goes to town on boob but otherwise she isn't interested.

This is so normal :)

It's absolutely understandable too - round about this age (10 weeks is typical, but it seems to happen any time from 6-8 weeks onwards) babies are able to take more interest in the world, to learn about what's happening, to make connections and to understand more. They cannot do this and spend hours and hours feeding :)

At the same time, they are physically more skilled at taking what they need in a shorter time, and the mother's supply and let down are super-refined by now.

Result? Typically shorter more business-like feeds :)

I am slightly lost about not having my little limpet attached to me all the time. 'Tis much nicer for toddler though - Mummy can actually do a lot more with him!
