Breastfeeding warning on iced coffee?

Is this a new "thing"?

Just had a caffionata brand iced coffee. After i realised it says due to "high" caffeine (100mg so under the recommended amount) it shouldn't be drunk by children, or pregnant or BREASTFEEDING women ! Oops.

I'm not too worried as it comes in as a low enough amount iyswim. .. but are these new warnings on foods "a thing"? Never seen one before.

Manufacturer is German. Maybe they have different rules/guidelines there.

There is no evidence that caffeine at this level would affect breastmilk/breastfeeding, so you are right not to worry :) I don't think there is any suggestion that UK guidance would include warnings on foods - never heard of it :)

Smile Oh good, it must be a German protocol.

Mini Squizita is napping nicely so clearly unaffected! Grin

Yes, different countries have different labelling rules.

was it nice?

I would have thought the biggest hazard of iced coffee whilst breastfeeding would be the cold shock of dropping it on the infant.

Frusso nope it was a don't drink it at all warning like on booze! You don't get it worded like that on UK products in my experience. Must be German guidelines (or perhaps so they can use the same packing for UK/USA/Aus?).

Penguins Nice but more like a coffee milkshake ... very sweet!

These are the caffeine labelling rules in the UK - nothing on bf.
